When can I start booking?

When can I start booking? When will the first trip be? Why aren’t you booking yet? Will you be at the Sportsman Show?

These are all good questions. There’s a lot to getting a guide service up and running, and a lot of it is a “hurry up and wait”.

The short answer is that I’m waiting on the licensing process. I expect to begin booking around the beginning of April. While a little later than I would have liked, it will still be in plenty of time for the best part of the spring chinook run. I have to be careful about when I begin to accept bookings. The Coast Guard and the State of Oregon really frown on people running unlicensed guide services.

This also gives me time to get some upgraded required equipment together. I’m looking forward to a new first aid kit, new radio, new life jackets, new canvas on the boat for cold weather, better seats, hopefully a wrap, and even some new fishing tackle.

I will not have a booth at the PNW sportsman’s show this year. I will be swinging by on Saturday though. Get ready for my review of the latest and greatest.
