ODFW and WDFW have announced the first round of spring chinook seasons for 2025. Based on projections, it looks like we’ll have a few more fish in the system to target this year. In usual fashion the season has been announced for March 1 though April 6th. Salmon and Steelhead must be hatchery and you can keep 2 fish (if you find a late steelie) but you can only keep one Chinook. If you’re not familiar with how our seasons on the Columbia work, the next step will be to watch the dam counts in order to see when we’ll get any extensions. Usually the fishery managers give a gap to let the peak of the run though and then open us up again. Here’s hoping I can get all the licensing through in time to book a few early trips!
