The first week of the 2026 Buoy 10 fishery is in the books and it’s been a crazy busy week! With trips every day, a lot of salmon have come into the boat and a lot of very tasty fillets have gone across the country.
For me, this week was a slightly different mix of salmon and bottom fishing. The salmon action in the river was good with lots of fish present, however the hook to land ratio was a little rough. The lingcod and rockfish have been plentiful as a bonus as well. All told, it’s been a great week to have a good time on the water and put some fish away in the freezer!

The Ocean has remained productive and I expect to spend time out there this next week with the in-river limit on Chinook switching to hatchery only for the next couple of weeks. I am taking Tuesday off, but have quite a few seats available for the rest of the week. Hopefully some folks will choose to come down and book a salmon fishing trip, especially since we’re looking at a really good ocean where you can still keep wild kings, even if the river isn’t allowing retention.
My Buoy 10 fishing program
So far I’ve been catching fish on nearly everything I put out. Spin-n-fish, whole anchovies, spinners, and original super baits have all caught fish. Reds and chartreuse seem to be good color choices, however it doesn’t truly seem to matter. The biggest factor is just getting in front of them when they’re ready to bite.
I’m looking forward to more action, and hopefully seeing some returning clients from last year as well. I can’t wait to get more fish on board!
